the Before I Die MOVIE trailer!

... but the movie's actually called "Now is Good" (IMDB) and stars Dakota Fanning and Jeremy Irvine. It's based on Before I Die by Jenny Dowham which was released a few years ago.

So for your enjoyment, here's the trailer! (direct link click here!)

My thoughts? It's not bad... but I'm apprehensive. It reminds me of A Walk to Remember but with the hip modern thing going on. I'm not sure how I feel about the casting of Dakota Fanning but it seems like it'll be alright. My worries (which are quite a few, mind you) are that they're going to change the ending from the book (which I thought was so powerful) or the acting is going to suck and if I'm distracted by bad acting (and cheesy lines! Oh god, I hate hate hate cheesy lines in teen movies that are meant to be 'romantic' but just make me roll my eyes) then I won't enjoy the movie. But I am tentatively optimistic!

So.. what did YOU think of the trailer?? Have you read the book? Excited for the movie?

Now is Good is released May 25 in the UK.

Before I Die (summary):

Tessa has just months to live. Fighting back against hospital visits, endless tests, drugs with excruciating side-effects, Tessa compiles a list. It’s her To Do Before I Die list. And number one is Sex. Released from the constraints of ‘normal’ life, Tessa tastes new experiences to make her feel alive while her failing body struggles to keep up. Tessa’s feelings, her relationships with her father and brother, her estranged mother, her best friend, and her new boyfriend, all are painfully crystallised in the precious weeks before Tessa’s time finally runs out

    1. I love it when that happens, I saw the trailer for Tomorrow When The War Began yesterday and went and requested it at the library right away :p But perhaps it was more b/c the blogger loved the book than the trailer itself, hehe :P I hope you enjoy the book if you get a chance to read it!

  2. omg i can just see it. they're going to butcher the whole movie. such a shame. because like you said, it's such a powerful book. some parts are so hard to read and it is so gritty at parts. but it feels like they're taking a whole other route with this movie. and although she's a good actress, it seems a bit lame in this. :/ not sure if i'll be seeing this.

    1. I sure HOPE they don't butcher it :P It does have a different vibe, i think Nomes said it best, Tessa's portrayal isn't really what I expected but *maybe* it'll work :p Not sure if I'll be seeing this either, probably gonna see what others think first :P

  3. my gosh

that didnt feel like the book that played out in my head. i found dakota fanning too soft and whispery, she kind of reminded me of michelle williams for some reason? i imagine tessa more loud and energetic and sulky. i don't like the lines that were profound life statements in a soft, whispery voice. i hope it doesn't seem like a nicolas sparks movie :/ b/c the book is mUCH cooler than that, but i am not thinking the premise could just seem incredibly cliche :/

and Adam was not meant to be cute. So, that's weird. but, of course, he needs to be cute for a movie... :)

    1. I think you hit it right on the head, it's been a few years since I read the book but I do remember Tessa being a lot less whimsical and more energetic, if that makes sense. I barely recognized Fanning tbh, it's the haircut! Deffo agree on the Michelle Williams lookalike. And LOL definitely giving off the Sparks vibe :P I can see why they're making it much more 'commercial' but I don't like it! And hahaha I think the movie industry would consider it a travesty if they cast a non-cute love interest..

  4. Alright. Adding this book to the TBR. I really want to read older books because I feel like my reading list is always full of new releases.

That trailer looks pretty freaking awesome. I haven't watched any Dakota Fanning in years and it looks like she's grown up quite well in terms of her acting and such.

IDK, I haven't read the book so I don't know if it'll be as good but the trailer makes me want to read it. I'm partly convinced because Jeremmy Irvine is such a looker.

  5. Dakota Fanning looks AMAZING with short hair! I thought the book was pretty good, and I think the movie will be just as good. I love a good Nicolas Sparks-esque movie!

    1. I love that actresses are rocking the short hair look! I hope the movie doesn't disappoint too, it feels weird that it's actually a 'thing' after so much talk and stuff about it!

  7. GASP! DAKOTA FANNING WITH A BRITISH ACCENT? Ah, she's got it going on!!! I really liked the book and Oh my goodness, the part with the bench? I remember picturing that quite exactly! I WANNA SEE THIS :D

  8. I think it looks really good (and terribly sad) but I haven't read the book. Dakota seems to do a good British accent, and that boy is fiiiiiiine. That's my intelligent contribution.

  9. Awe. It does look a bit A Walk to Remember-ish, but at least the guy in this one isn't pretending to be some party hard bad boy. Looks good. I think Fanning is pulling off the accent.
