Another Cover (5) ; prized

Oh… you book bloggers are ready to chuck a mental. I think. It's one of those much-talked-about "changing-covers-halfway-through-to-match-the-paperback" debates. Today’s Another Cover I discovered via Twitter (oh the joys of twitter) and is revealed here on the author’s blog.

Title: Prized
series: Birthmarked trilogy #2
Author: Caragh M. O’Brien
Genre: dystopian

Summary:

In the thrilling follow up to Birthmarked, sixteen-year-old midwife Gaia Stone has fled from the Enclave and now must fight for her baby sister’s survival in the matriarchal society of Sylum.

Striking out into the wasteland with nothing but her baby sister, a handful of supplies, and a rumor to guide her, 16-year-old midwife Gaia Stone survives only to be captured by the people of Sylum, a dystopian society where women rule the men who drastically outnumber them, and a kiss is a crime. In order to see her sister again, Gaia must submit to their strict social code, but how can she deny her sense of justice, her curiosity, and everything in her heart that makes her whole?

Hardcover vs Paperback for Birthmarked

Initially: Erm.. what?

Stop and Stare? Kind of, just to figure out what is going on honestly :p

Image: I both like and dislike this.. for one I really have no idea what is being pictured here… the effects are kind of cool but it looks a bit generic. I hope it ties into the story somehow, but I kind of like the 'feel' of it, it's all mysterious...

Font: Luuurve, except maybe a tad hard to read at first. It’s that ‘r’, I hate cursive ‘r’s in general haha. But overall, it's what draws me in at first glance.

Colors: I think it’s pretty similar to book #1 of hardcover, but strays from book #1 paperback. I like it, but I do kinda wish it was a bit darker because that was the tone I got from the story.

HP Rating: Average

Will I Read? Not based on the cover, but yes because I loved the first book.

  1. I am not a fan of the cover. It just doesn't grab my attention. I prefer the original hardback cover. Much more interesting. Makes me curious about the story.

  2. OOHHH i love the paperback! I liked the ARC cover but not so much the hardback cover. It didn't tell me a lot about the book. the paperback cover has the most important part right there! awesome. can't wait to get it for myself just so i can say i have it! and i can't wait for the second one :)

  3. Yeah, I'm not feeling the covers and wouldn't read based on them alone. It is hard to figure out what is going on.

I think I like the paperback better.
